How to install a plugin and how to integrate it into an article. Vdeo tutorial.
Plugins are Elxis extensions which are integrated into content articles and therefore are component's content specific extensions. This means that the output of a plugin is being displayed inside articles. You can also display a plugin inside module content the same way as you do for articles. In this case don't forget to enable execution of plugins in module content parameters. You insert the plugin's integration code in WYSIWYG editor in the exact spot you want the plugin to be displayed. Each plugin has its own integration code which you can type directly into the editor or use the Guided input method Elxis provides you for easy integration. This integration code will later be replaced by the actual plugin's output HTML.
The first thing this video tutorial shows you is how to install a plugin. As for any other extension type, a plugin can be installed by uploading the extension package from your computer to the Elxis installer, or directly from EDC browser without having to download it to your computer first. Browse EDC, find the extension you want to install and click Install. Elxis will download and install the extension for you. The same way you can update an already installed extension. You can afterwards edit it in order to publish it and configure some general options from the parameters tab. The type of parameters depends on the specific plugin. Consider plugin's help for more information on a specific plugin.
The plugin has been installed, published, configured and it is ready to be integrated into an article. Edit any article, go to the WYSIWYG editor and move the cursor to the exact spot you want the plugin to be displayed. Click on the Elxis plugin icon and then Guided input. Select the plugin you are interested in, fill in its integration options and generate the integration code. Then import this code into the editor. That's it.
